Edited by Callan Waldron-Hall 2016-2021, Independent Variable showcased new poetry from writers including Seán Hewitt and Helen Tookey, exploring the strange worlds between science and art to raise funds for the Iodine Global Network, a non-profit, non-government organisation championing the sustainable elimination of iodine deficiency worldwide.
In July 2017, Callan launched the Independent Variable Anthology at Waterstones Liverpool ONE, with readings from the featured poets.
The anthology comprised new poetry from emerging and established writers, and an interview with Matthew Siegel, author of Bloodwork (University of Wisconsin Press, 2015).
